  • SPECIALIZED COUNSELING services that focus on realistic self-appraisal and self-assessment. Reality-based personal, academic and career counseling along with goal setting geared toward self-direction and achievement.
  • STUDENT ADVOCACY assistance provided to help students negotiate the college environment efficiently and effectively. Assistance is provided in such areas as appeals, letters of recommendations, grievance processes and personal responsibility.
  • STUDY AND LEARNING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT assists students in identification of their individual study and learning style, teaching styles, study and learning strategies, and the academic support services that will help them to successfully complete their academic goals.
  • WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS focused small group discussions and presentations that specifically address identified student needs.
  • PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND TRACKING scheduled performance reviews in order to determine the levels of student progress and achievement in order for early warning and early intervention to place in a timely manner.
  • REFERRALS FOR ACADEMIC AND PERSONAL SUPPORT information and access to campus and community resources that respond to the specific needs for academic development and support as well as the human services available in the local area.
  • ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT assistance in identifying and accessing the specific courses related to the major curriculum in addition to providing transfer assistance related to specific areas of study.
  • FACULTY CONSULTATION ongoing contact and information sharing with faculty relative to students’ academic skills development, performance and success.
  • TRANSFER ASSISTANCE specific assistance in the identification of upper division institution(s) etc., so as to achieve a good match of student and institution.
  • CAREER DEVELOPMENT assistance provided to aid students in the identification of their individual preferences, needs, and goals.
  • EARLY ALERT/ EARLY INTERVENTION the retention strategy that provides for the notification of shifts in the student’s performance in order for timely academic support to be provided.
  • FOLLOW UP information provided to the referring individual (faculty member, etc.) concerning the disposition of students referred for retention counseling and support.
  • ORIENTATIONS scheduled classroom presentations provided in order to inform students of available academic, career and personal support resources and the means of accessing them.
