Writing Center Director – Faculty #10041
English Department


Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Doctorate, preferably in Rhetoric and Composition or English Studies. Preferably proven experience managing a Writing Center; minimally, considerable experience working in a Writing Center.

Responsibilities: The Writing Center Director will be a full-time faculty member in the English Department, with some teaching duties on a twelve month contract. Working with the English Department Chair, the Writing Center Director will provide leadership in all aspects of developing and administering the Writing Center at Daytona Beach College. This position will establish Writing Center policies and procedures; will recruit, train and supervise all Writing Center staff; will develop Writing Center services for the branch campuses; and will develop and provide outreach services to support faculty involved in Writing Across the Curriculum efforts at the college.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Successful candidate must have a knowledge of areas of discipline to be taught; ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors; ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications; commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College; computer literate and able to navigate in a Windows environment.

Rank: Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Salary: Twelve month position. Competitive salary depending on experience. The College also provides a comprehensive benefits package.

Tenure and Promotion: Tenure and promotion are dependent upon the development of a successful professional portfolio and committee approval.
