With the start of the 2007-2008 season, Laura Brown enters her tenth season as head coach for the DBC Lady Falcons Women’s Golf Team.

Brown is a Florida Native, as she was born and raised in New Smyrna Beach, FL. After graduating from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1987, Brown attended the University of Florida on a golf scholarship. As a Florida Gator, she earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year honors, won the 1990 Doral State Collegiate Championship and received All-American honors in 1991. She received the MVP and Scholar-Athlete Team Awards her junior and senior year.

After graduating from University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, she turned professional and competed on various mini-tours until qualifying for the LPGA Tour in 1994. She competed on the LPGA Tour in 1995 and 1997. Her best finish was a tie for ninth in the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic where she recorded her career-low score of 66 during the final round.

After realizing the fast-paced lifestyle of the LPGA Tour was not for her, Brown accepted the post to lead the women’s golf program at Daytona Beach College, which started in 1998. Brown has continued her involvement with the LPGA, as she is a Class A Member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division. She was named the 2005 LPGA SE Section Coach of the Year.

Brown also continues to compete professionally and participates in several tournaments each year. Her latest golf accomplishments include a 1st Place finish in the 2006 LPGA SE Section Team Championship and a 9th place finish in the 2006 LPGA T&CP National Championship. Other top finishes include a 1st place showing at the 2003 LPGA SE Section Team Championship, 2nd place showing at the 2002 LPGA SE Section Team Championship, and a 2nd place finish at the 2001 LPGA SE Section Championship. Brown also participated in the 2001 U.S. Women’s Open Championship held at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
